You don't need me to tell you how competitive this business is.

With agents, producers and publishers receiving hundreds of manuscripts and screenplays a week, it's not surprising they often dump anything with spelling, formatting or grammatical errors in the trash, NO MATTER HOW BRILLIANT THE STORY!

And typos? Many industry insiders won't let you get away with even one or two before consigning your work to the little round filing cabinet on the floor.

It sounds harsh, but if you think about it, why would they work with a writer who cannot be bothered to present his or her material in the best possible condition when there are plenty of others who can? They are looking to work with professionals, and that means someone who pays attention to details.

Don't Waste an Opportunity
You've spent a lot of time creating your masterpiece. Let an agented writer and credited script consultant help you give it the best possible chance to get noticed. From a simple Proofread to correct any technical errors to a Light Edit to "polish" up your work, pick the service that works for you.

Self-Publishing?
Professional publishers have several people check a manuscript before committing to a print run. If you're paying to publish yourself, you must have a second (and third, if possible) pair of eyes go over your work before spending a ton of money on printing only to find a bunch of typos have ruined the finished product.

And don't worry about me tampering with your creative vision. That's not what my job is about. All edits are highlighted in virtual red using the "Track Changes" feature in MS Word, so you can manually accept or reject each one. Click here to see what an edited page looks like.

Why Charge by the Word and Not by the Hour?
So you know EXACTLY how much each job will cost beforehand. No surprises. And if I happen to be going slow one day, you don't get penalized for it. (Hey, we all have bad days.)

Which Service Should I Use?
That depends. If you are fairly confident in your writing ability, then a simple proofread might be all you need to get rid of any spelling, grammar or syntax issues.

However, a proofread will not correct sentences that do not make sense or repair common structural errors. If you are less confident in your writing skills, then you should probably request the Light Editing service, which will ensure the work accurately conveys what you are trying to say. If you are unsure of which service you need, I will be happy to take a look at a few sample pages and let you know.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: A Light Edit will not turn a bad screenplay or manuscript into a good one. My job is to make an existing work as good as it can be from a technical standpoint without any critical judgment as to the literary merits of the work.)

Formatting
Prior to sending it out, it is essential to have a document correctly formatted. If you don't have the time or inclination to do it yourself, I will happily format a manuscript or screenplay as a stand-alone service or in conjunction with a Proofread or Light Edit.
